Data Retention

Data Retention Policy

How long we keep what you give us, and what actually happens when you ask us to stop. Last updated: August 26, 2026.

What we keep, and for how long

DataRetained

Bank transactions, balances and account metadata

Imported from your linked institutions via Plaid. Deleted immediately when you delete your account.

While your account is open

Earnings, expenses and mileage trips

Includes rows you entered by hand and rows derived from transactions. Deleted immediately when you delete your account.

While your account is open

Bank access credentials

Held encrypted at rest, never in plaintext. Overwritten the moment you unlink the institution or delete your account.

Until you unlink or delete

Profile and identity details

Name, email and the demographic answers you gave at sign-up. Erased from your record when you delete your account.

While your account is open

Sessions and sign-in tokens

Refresh tokens expire on a rolling 30-day window and are revoked immediately on sign-out or deletion.

Up to 30 days

Records of money movement

Contributions, fees and transfers. Retained after deletion where financial recordkeeping rules require it — see below.

Up to 7 years

What we keep even after you delete

Records of money movement — contributions, fees and transfers — are retained after account deletion where financial recordkeeping rules require it, for up to seven years. We cannot delete these on request, and neither can any provider operating under the same rules.

If you have a linked brokerage account, closing it can take up to 30 days for the same reason. Nothing retained under this section is used to market to you, and it is never sold.

Requesting access or deletion

Deleting your account from within the product does everything an erasure request would, immediately, and we would rather you use it than wait on us. If you would prefer to ask us directly — or you want a copy of your data before it goes — email [email protected].
